Comments
Two months after having my heart set on getting a GIAC stage 1.5 chip, I finally received my chip from DynoSpot Racing of CA. The first chip dealer I contacted led me on for about a month before completely blowing me off which is why it took me so long to get the chip.
DSR was a pleasure to deal with. They got a hold of a spare ECU for me very quickly and at a good price. I was part of a group purchase arranged by an AudiWorlder, so I got a good discount on the chip. I've written some instructions for removing the ECU.
I noticed an immediate and significant performance gain upon installing the GIAC'ed ECU. The 40-50HP power increase claimed by GIAC is not exagerrated at all. My A4 is now capable of whiplash-causing bursts of speed.
The additional power also helps in everyday situations such as climbing hills and accelerating out of a turn. Power comes on smoothly and mildly when driving normally. But if you drop a gear or two and stomp on it, watch out!
No problems so far, and no regrets other than not getting the chip sooner!
